One Year Anniversary!
Cardens Accountants – A year in the Old Casino, Hove
November 24th 2015 is a special day for us here at Cardens Accountants, as we will be celebrating having worked in our new offices at the ‘Old Casino’ for exactly a year. The Old Casino itself is a very grand building with an impressive history being part of The Hove Club built in Victorian times and we are thrilled to be working in such a distinctive building.
In readiness to mark the occasion, last month one afternoon, the usual tapping of computer keyboards was swapped for the tapping of feet whilst we produced a one-off Cardens video.
This was a first for both the staff and the building as the team of accountants danced the Charleston.
We may be accountants but we also like to have some fun and we think this is reflected in the video we have produced. Over the last year we have increased our workforce from 31 to 39 members of staff to allow us to continue to grow our business and provide a high quality of service to our clients
However the choice to produce our own video was not completely random. It was actually inspired by the company’s founding partner, Barry Carden.
Barry danced the Charleston for charity at the Rockinghorse Midsummer Ball in June. It was a competition that not only raised a huge amount of money for the Rockinghorse Charity but for which Barry was also voted the winner!
Fiona, Rachel and Elena from I Charleston Brighton Film productions did a fantastic job coaching Barry so we thought they would like the extra challenge of teaching 39 accountants how to dance, they also edited and produced our video.
As a company we are committed to giving a total 1% of our turnover to charity, in donations of time and money.
As part of this commitment every year we host The Cardens Charity Quiz Night. The quiz which was held on 12 November is a great time for clients, contacts and staff alike, with the chance to network and partake in a good-humoured true or false game from the Cardens partners, as well as play a round of Family Fortunes! (Not to mention a generous helping of sausages and mash for the guests!)
This year there was the added bonus of being the first people to preview the Cardens team video. We are happy to announce that the 2015 quiz alone raised over £3,700.
