Cardens Sponsors the Shoreham Star Trail 2021

Cardens is proud to sponsor the Shoreham Star Trail in 2021: a family-friendly character hunt around Shoreham town in support of the Adur Special Needs Project. Our sponsorship package included selecting our favourite character on the day which fell to Cardens Partner Victoria. So, if you spot Luke Skywalker out and about in Shoreham, you know who to thank!

The event will take place on 24th July between 10am-1pm, starting at East Street in Shoreham. The day will raise much-needed funds for the Lancing-based charity, which runs play schemes for children aged five to 15 years with special/additional needs and disabilities.

Shoreham Star Trail characters in 2018

The first Shoreham Star Trail took place in 2018, with characters like Captain Jack Sparrow, Snow White, Woody from Toy Story and two Stormtroopers hiding across Shoreham town as part of the charity hunt.

Families who take part and find all the hidden characters will enter into a prize draw!

Heidi Rush, organiser, celebrated its initial success: “This event was a bigger success than I could ever have imagined. I want to say a very big thank you to all of our volunteers and characters who gave up their time for the charity and look out for our next event.”

We have worked with Heidi, the Chair of the Adur Special Needs Project, for many years. Through this link, Cardens became informed about ASNP and the great work that it does in the community.

Cardens’ Partner Victoria is local to Lancing and became aware of their projects and fundraising in the area with her children. The benefits of the charity are far reaching, and you can just see the impact that it has through the many happy, fun photos from events throughout the year.

Donating 1% of our turnover to charity

Cardens is committed to donating 1% of our annual turnover to charity.

This takes many forms including:

  • providing pro bono accountancy services to several small local charities.
  • donating the time of our team to promote charities such as Paddle Round the Pier
  • donating the time of our partners and our team to help run charities – treasurers/committees etc
  • sponsoring local events for charity fundraisers
  • we also organise a quiz for clients and contacts once a year to directly fundraise for two local charities

Those that have benefited from our annual charity quiz so far include the Crew Club, Friends of Brighton and Hove Hospitals, Rise, StarTrust, Off The Fence, Whoopsadaisy, Whitehawk Inn, Rockinghorse and Chestnut Tree House.
