Cardens Charity Quiz 2021

Cardens’ charity quiz returned in 2021 for an evening of quizzing and catching up with friends and clients. After skipping a year in 2020 due to COVID restrictions, it was great to welcome a room full of familiar faces to the County Cricket Ground in Hove once again.

Mark Stack took up his place as host for the quiz with some staple favourites, like the picture round and Family Fortunes. Lawrence Boon and the Fizz Creations team kindly provided prizes for the raffle halfway through the evening. Thanks to the generosity of our guests, we managed to raise nearly £1000 on the night to add to the grand total for our chosen charities: BrightPIP Children’s Charity and Rockinghorse Children’s Charity.

After some tricky questions, some heckles and head or tails, Mayo Wynne Baxter ended the night victorious. Their prize was a bottle of sparkling champagne each, provided by our friends at the Brighton Wine Company.

Hospitality was provided by the Sussex Cricket Ground team who served sausages and mash before the quiz got underway, along with a fully licenced bar throughout the night which went down a treat.

BrightPIP

BrightPIP’s vision is to change the future for vulnerable babies, one baby at a time in Brighton and Hove.

Our mission is to intervene at the earliest time with families  – in the first few years of development – to support parents to have positive relationships with their children.

PIP stands for parent-infant psychological therapy (PIP), which the team tries to ensure is freely available to all families in Brighton and Hove who need it.

Rockinghorse

Cardens has been associated with Rockinghorse Children’s Charity for many years. This Brighton-based charity has been supporting children and their families across Sussex for more than 50 years.

The charity was set up in 1967 as a fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton. It has provided life-saving medical equipment and other vital services for sick children at the Royal Alex, the Trevor Mann Baby Unit, the Special Care Baby Unit in the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath specialist neonatal units, respite centres and children’s services across Sussex.

1% Charity Pledge

Cardens is committed to donating 1% of our annual turnover to charity. We’re proud of the amount we have raised during our 15 years in business through local charities and initiatives.

Alongside our fundraising events, we contribute our time and resources so that local charities remain in a good financial position to continue providing vital support. This was made particularly prevalent in 2020. Due to the pandemic, fundraising for charities reduced dramatically, so it was important for us to not only keep fundraising from home last year but to also pick up our annual events in 2021 to lend a hand.

Those that have benefited from our annual quiz so far include; the Crew Club, Friends of Brighton and Hove Hospitals, Rise, StarTrust, Off The Fence, Whoopsadaisy, Whitehawk Inn, Rockinghorse and Chestnut Tree House. For more information, please visit our Giving Something Back page.
