More small businesses to benefit from Help to Grow: Management scheme
This June, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy announced that more business leaders will be able to access the Help to Grow: Management scheme.

What is the Help to Grow: Management scheme
The scheme is aimed at Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and their teams who are looking to upskill in an effort to boost the productivity and future growth of the country’s business community. The Management scheme is one of two courses available, with the other focusing on Digital skills.
The scheme offers:
- 50 hours of leadership and management training
- 12 weeks of learning
- 90% of costs covered by a £220 million package of government funding, so business owners pay only £750
- a bespoke business growth plan to help businesses reach their full potential
- 1:1 support from a business mentor
More businesses can now apply
Since the launch of the scheme in June 2021, eligible businesses could only include one participant in the scheme. However, the government have now changed the criteria so that any business with 10 employees or more are eligible to have two participants join the scheme.
If you have previously participated in the Small Business Leadership Programme, you are also eligible to join this scheme.
Part of Help to Grow: Management involves mentoring from some of the most influential businesses in the UK, including Santander and Vodafone, alongside award-winning mentor Herman Stewart amongst others.
Small Business Minister Paul Scully said:
“Again and again, business leaders are telling us how much they are benefiting from the Help to Grow: Management scheme both personally, and in the results they see in their companies and from their staff.
“By expanding the scheme even further, more and more people will benefit from what Help to Grow: Management has to offer – including within the same business – and more organisations can thrive and grow.”
