How to Set Up Xero Auto Pay For Repeating Sales Invoices

  • Written by Cardens Partner, Carol Rigby

If your customers pay you a regular, repeating amount, there is a great new feature from Xero and Stripe called Auto Pay. Xero and the global payments processor has created this feature to help businesses get paid faster, optimise invoicing and ensure more cash flow certainty.

How does Auto Pay work?

When you send your customer an online invoice not only will they be able to pay it immediately using a credit or debit card via Stripe, they will now also be able to set up Auto Pay. This will allow them to automatically pay any future invoices on their due dates without any further input.

You need to use the repeating invoice function within Xero which automates the process of producing regular sales invoices: here’s how to add or edit a repeating invoice template. When setting up repeating invoices you now have the option to select the “Offer auto pay” checkbox.

A lot of our clients are already using Stripe to help them get paid faster by their customers and automate the reconciliation process in Xero. This is another great feature to make using Stripe even more attractive. Small businesses that enable Stripe payments on Xero invoices are already paid on average up to 15 days faster, according to Xero data.
