Cardens Promotions Strengthen Senior Team
Cardens Accountants and Business Advisors are excited to announce four significant promotions, three of which demonstrate Cardens’ focus on genuine career progression from Trainee to Partner.
Cardens Accountants and Business Advisors was founded in 2006 by Barry Carden with a team of 10. The firm now employs more than 65 employees from its larger headquarters at the Old Casino. Over its 16 years in business, the firm has become known for its respected local reputation, growth, and client retention – some of whom have worked with the firm since its inception.
To mark another year of progress, Cardens Accountants has focused on strengthening its senior team due to the firm’s continued expansion.
Cardens is pleased to announce the following team promotions, effective since 1 April 2022: Gemma Wall, Hannah Doherty, James Burt and James Phillips.
James Phillips FCCA association with Cardens dates back to his time as a trainee accountant at its inception. He was part of the core team who established Cardens in 2006 and has advanced in the company ever since, culminating in his position as Partner this April. His tech-focused approach enables him to efficiently manage, an ever-growing portfolio.
James says: “I’m proud to become a Partner at Cardens. Having been one of the 10 people that started with Cardens some 16 years ago, the journey that both myself and Cardens has been on is a remarkable one and one that am thrilled to have shared with the amazing team we have built over the years.
“Cardens has and will continue to be a place where young, talented individuals are given the tools to help them fulfil their goals, while also understanding the importance of the world outside the office.”
Hannah Doherty FCCA became Audit Partner in April 2022, having joined Cardens in 2014 as Audit Manager and progressing to Senior Audit Manager in 2016. Hannah supports the whole team and encourages everyone to enjoy all that Cardens life has to offer.
Hannah says: “My main reason for joining Cardens was to have an office nearer to home and a better work life balance. My eight years at Cardens has been so much more than I expected, culminating in my appointment to Partner. Cardens thrives on the development and progression of all team members. It continually recognizes the importance of retaining home grown talent by utilising individuals’ key strengths.
“During my time at Cardens, the audit department has grown substantially, not only in the volume of work we undertake but also in the growth and calibre of our dedicated audit team. We are proud to be one of only a handful of firms nationally who are on the Public Sector register and approved to carry out Public Sector audits.”
Gemma Wall FCCA has been promoted from Client Manager to Associate. Gemma joined the firm in 2012 as a Trainee Accountant before progressing as an Assistant Manager and then Portfolio Manager. Gemma is renowned in the office for being highly efficient in managing a large client portfolio. Following a reorganisation in the office, she is now looking to take on new clients.
James Burt FCCA joined Cardens in 2009 as a Trainee Accountant. Over the years he has advanced to Senior Accountant, before swiftly becoming a Portfolio Manager. He then progressed to Client Manager in 2021 before becoming a new Associate at Cardens this April. He credits this to his work ethic and client approach and to his long-standing mentors at Cardens: Partner Victoria Mason FCCA and new Partner James Phillips FCCA.
